To achieve the greatest possible improvement in the health status of the people of the Yukon Kuskokwim Delta Region of Alaska.

Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC) is a non-profit organization that is committed to the development of culturally relevant programs for primary care, prevention and health promotion in a setting that fosters Native self-determination in the control and management of health delivery. YKHC currently serves 58 Western Alaska villages that include two Sub-Regional Clinic.

YKHC has more than 1,400 employees and is growing steadily. More and more services are moving out to the villages where the recipients of those services live. Besides the 50-bed acute care facility in Bethel, YKHC operates 58 Village Clinics that are staffed by Village Health Aides who are certified nurse's aides. It also supports one sub-regional clinic staffed by PA's and Nurse Practitioners and there are plans for two additional sub-regional clinics. Some of our departments are pharmacy, dental, nursing, audiology, laboratory, Imaging (X-ray), Physicians, physical therapy.

Bethel is located along the banks of the Kuskokwim River, which is an integral part of our lifestyle. During the winter, cross-country Skiing, Snowmachining and dog mushing can start at your door and go for hundreds of miles. There are winter trails to and from many of the villages of the Yukon and Kuskokwim Delta, or if you prefer, you can make your own trail across virgin snow. Cross-country skis and ice skates can be rented from the City of Bethel Youth Center.

  • Currently YKHC offers a benefits package, which includes Medical/Dental,Vision, Life, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, and Long-term Disability insurance for yourself at no cost, after you complete a waiting period of approximately 120 calendar days or less.~ Additionally, you may purchase group Medical/Dental, Vision coverage for your dependents.~ Our employee benefits will be explained in detail during your new employee orientation.
  • Paid Time off (PTO) accrual in accordance with company policy as outlined in our personnel policies.~ A prorated portion of PTO is accrued each pay period. YKHC also has a Money Purchase Pension Plan 401(a), and a Tax Shelter 403(b) plan that is available to benefited employees. Please note YKHC reserves the right to change our benefit package at our sole discretion.

Bethel is located in southwestern Alaska, 40 miles from the mouth of the Kuskokwim River, 400 air miles from Anchorage. By air, Bethel is 5 hours, 50 minutes from Seattle, and 4 hours, 15 minutes from Juneau with an overnight stop usually required in Anchorage. Flying time from Anchorage to Bethel is one hour. Bethel's climate is more maritime than continental, modifying daily temperatures during most of the year. Mean summer temperature is about 53 degrees; mean winter temperature is 11 degrees.
